How to get to Taraloka?

By train:

The nearest train station is 'Whitchurch (Salop)'. There are at least three towns in the UK called Whitchurch so you have to get a train to the correct one! It has to be the one in Shropshire or Salop. Most train journeys will require a mainline service to Shrewsbury or Crewe and then a small local train to 'Whitchurch (Salop)'. Then a taxi from Whitchurch to Taraloka which will cost about 9 - 12 pounds.

Taxi firms familiar with Taraloka operating from Whitchurch train station: Powell: 01948 780380/07710 645237 +++ Jim: 01948 663018 +++ Hall: 01948 662222 +++ Tony: 01948 664305. Please let the Taraloka office know when you will arrive at Whitchurch and they will try and coordinate taxis for everyone.

Airports:

Liverpool and Manchester are about 90 minutes away by train. The train will cost about 15 pounds. Birmingham is about 2 - 2.5 hours away by train. The train will cost about 20 pounds. Stanstead is about 4 hours away by train (via London). The train costs about 60 pounds. If you prefer to fly to Stanstead then maybe you could coordinate your travel with others travelling from Stanstead and Cambridge, maybe you could all hire a car. The drive from Cambridge to Taraloka takes about 3 hours.

By car:
Route from Shrewsbury:

Follow signs for the A49 Whitchurch until you go through the village of Preston Brockhurst (about 8 miles). Turn left at the sign to Wem (B5063). After 3 miles turn right under the railway bridge at the T-junction. At the next T-junction at the end of this road turn left (a church is on your left). After 5 miles you will reach the village of Northwood. After the Horse & Jockey pub (on left) and a humpbacked bridge the road bears right. On the sharp left bend, take the right turn, signed Bettisfield. In Bettisfield, go over the hump-backed bridge and past the village Hall (on the left). After 100 yards turn right down the track with the Taraloka sign. At the end of the track drive ahead for a few yards and park on the right. The retreat centre is the red brick building.

Route from Whitchurch:

Follow signs for A495 Oswestry. Turn left after 5 miles, signposted Bettisfield. After about half a mile you will pass a church on your right and then go over a bridge. After about 200 yards turn left onto track signed Taraloka. At the end of the track, drive ahead for a few yards and park on the right. The retreat centre is the red brick building.
