EBU Council Meeting in Paris March 10-11, 2007

‘An important step forward’ and ‘highly successful’ were the participants’ verdicts on the latest EBU Council Meeting in Paris from March 10-11.

Two days of productive talks among the seven members of the enlarged council proved that the EBU is on the best way to becoming a lively and useful instrument for the Buddhist organizations in Europe.

Although some items on the agenda were quite controversial, like the question of how to improve the structure of the EBU to make it more flexible and effective, we reached consensus in the end.

Before long we will publish a booklet to give an overview about the way the EBU can be of service to the community of dharma-practitioners and their organisations in Europe. We will take steps to publish our website in different European languages in addition to the present English version.

Members’ representatives will find more opportunities for realizing activities and projects at future AGMs. Each year individuals who are prepared to give their time and energy as their personal ‘dana’ to the EBU’s aspirations and services will be invited to join the working team of the enlarged council. This will allow the EBU to become more efficient in the interest of its members. A membership drive in the months of April and May, supported by all members contacting Buddhist organisations within their reach, will extend the network of the EBU and make it more creative and comprehensive still.
