Representativeness of Buddhists in Europe gather together in France
The Annual General Meeting of the EBU took place on 23-25 September 2011 at Lerab Ling Centre in France. The meeting was attended by representatives of 40 member organizations working in Europe, including 12 National Buddhist Unions: Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland.
New Officers
This year elections took place for the four elected positions on the council: The President; Jamie Cresswell, two Vice-Presidents: Joseph Serra and Egil Lothe, and the Treasurer; Hans-Erich Frey. These positions are initially for a three year period. Their first act was to thank the outgoing officers for the great work that has been accomplished under their administration during the previous 3 years.
In addition, six other Chairs were appointed for one year to lead the six working committees.
You will find the names of all the new members below and also on the web site here activities>projects.
The council has met once since the AGM and a National Unions Meeting will take place at the end of January 2012.
The weekend was a great time to see old friends from many different Buddhist groups across Europe and also to welcome new members to the EBU.
Much discussion took place during the weekend including the committees meeting together to plan future work.
We would like to thank Lerab Ling for allowing us to use their beautiful facilities and for looking after us so well.
